Week 4: P90X / INSANITY / Other Activities Hybrid

Finished up the 4th week of the program and things are starting to shape up finally. Shirts and jeans are becoming looser and I’m breathing a lot easier with anything I do. My workout buddy is hanging in there as well and is improving slowly with every workout we’re doing. The past 4 weeks have gone by fairly quickly and I’m now up to speed with exercising regularly without any thought whatsoever. There isn’t much soreness at all and I’m able to push myself harder. Phase I is now completed and I’m a third of the way through this round. Tomorrow begins Phase II which will be a lot of fun. I’ll be adding in a double workout here and there, preferably an easy going cardio routine, just as I’ve done before the first time I did P90X. As far as being on track with my goal for this round, I think I’m well on my way to getting where I want to be. Just gotta keep pressing play and eating healthy. Let’s go Phase II!!!

Week 3: P90X/INSANITY/Other Fitness Activities Hybrid

Finished up Week 3 of my program. Feeling pretty good with clothes loosening up, seeing more muscle definition, and having more energy. This week was really different as I had my best friend join me. She’s now committed 🙂 Unfortunately since I don’t have a second pull-up bar nor another door to put one up, I’ve decided to double up on working out on the back routines. So for example, Legs & Back was yesterday so I did the routine twice. Once by myself and again with my friend. Her upper-body strength doesn’t allow for unassisted pull-ups yet so I’m spotting her which surprisingly is exercise for me since I have to do a little work with the assist 😀 Eventually she’ll develop the upper body strength to do pullups but it’ll take time. In addition, I’ve been putting her under the craziness of INSANITY. She’ll be strong and lean in no time! Having a workout buddy is so much funner than working out alone especially with any home fitness product. Anyway, next week is a recovery week so I’ll be doing Bikram Yoga for my yoga routines and probably do a bit more running. I didn’t run this week because of this double workout craziness which I’ll get use to eventually. However I gotta make sure I don’t overdue it so I’ll go easy on them. Nutrition-wise I’ve been doing so-so. I still think I’m not eating enough so I’ll have to fix that. Other than that, things are looking great and I look forward to finishing up Phase 1 of this routine.

Oh yeah, on a side-note, I happened to come across a new home fitness program geared toward people that want a workout based around Mixed Martial Arts called Tapout XT. The program is kind of similar to INSANITY but with a martials arts twist to it. It looks very challenging and also seems like a lot of fun! I enjoyed the P90X Kenpo routine but it got way too easy after awhile. This however has a lot of variety. It even has a routine based off Muay Thai which is awesome. Tapout XT is in the pipeline for trying out eventually but I first need to go through Asylum as well as P90X2 which have been sitting in their boxes for quite some time :P.

Week 2: P90X/INSANITY/OTHER FITNESS ACTIVITIES Hybrid

Finished up the second week of my P90X program restart.  I believe this is my 4th round of P90X.  The 1st round was fully completed.  The 2nd round I believe was 1/2 completed and the 3rd one was 90% percent completed. Hopefully this time around I can get through the entire round non-stop.  No….we gotta strike out the word hope…and say I am going to get through an entire round.   A person’s choice of words is always important and “hoping” something will happen isn’t really being confident at all.  Same with the word “should”.  Anyway, going back to the progress I’ve made.  So far in the past two weeks I’ve cut down considerably physical stats wise with 6 lbs gone, 1.75 in off my waist, and trimmed off 3% of my overall BF.  Not bad at all.  I managed to turn around most of the negative gains caused from the end of school/graduation time period.  Nutrition has played an important part in all this of course, but I’m starting to get hungrier again since my metabolism is revving up.  Unfortunately since I’m kind of trying to maintain a budget, I’m trying to efficiently use all of my groceries to last me for a while however I believe I’m not eating enough so I’ll have to re-evaluate my approach with getting enough nutrients.  The goal for this round as in my last post is to return to peak condition or at least fairly close. In addition I want to explore other fitness activities.  Running is in and I plan on participating in some 5K or 10K races.  Hiking is another consideration.  I have plenty of time to try some new stuff this summer.

Beginning of 2011

What?! I was like this before ???

Week 1: P90X Program Restart

Back in the fitness game again.  After graduation celebrations and post-grad laziness, I’m restarting P90X.  In addition, I’ll be mixing things up just like last time to keep things fresh.  This week is hell-week as I’m sore all over the place.  Feels good though to be working out instead of feeling like a slug.  It’s been 2 years since I did my initial round of P90X and things have been a roller coaster as far as maintaining fitness levels.  I’m hoping…no, let’s not say that…I am changing myself once again into how I was after that 6-month period of P90X and INSANITY the first time around.  I will update as often as I can.
